Thom Browne: Paris 2023

Guests at the Thom Browne 2023 Ready To Wear show were treated to “an American prom mixed with Cinderella mixed with the Paris Opera.” Held in the lavish Opéra Garnier, the show was a lavish production in and of itself.

The show opened with Gwendoline Christie, who entered in a full-length blazer to wander through the building’s halls, before returning to centre stage. Sprtizing herself with cologne and brushing her hair she announced that “Thom loves his little stories — and this is going to be a very long story.”

In many ways the show was quintessentially Browne — if such a thing really exists — with tailoring and kilts. Oversized poodleskirts with accentuated corseted waists, also appeared. All the designs were coloured pantomimic by the abundance of polkadots that easily evoked ideas of a circus clown.
